Finally got some time to play around on GT4, an have been having some fun on the ring in a 240HP + Nitrous SZ-R.
Best time so far is a 8'06.279
What can you guys do? Any mods allowed to it by the way, so more potential.
BTW, anyone managed to get a green Supra yet? Can't find one, and wonder if it has it.

I've bought every Supra I've seen but still only have a Red and Silver one, but I'm sure more colours are available.
Think I've seen a screen shot of a purp car from GT4.

I have Black, QS and RSP so far, and have seen white, thats it.
8:06 is a great time.... Im still struggling to comeplete omne fast lap without coming off :)
I think I managed 8:17 in that 490bhp Chevy Concept Truck.
7'52.462 :D Same 240HP + 70HP shot. Near-perfect lap, could squeeze a sub 7'50, but only just.

just had a quick go in the race mode again.
HOW GOOD IS THIS GAME!!!
Just won a Jap championship and on the last race followed right behind this RX-7 around 4 laps on the suzuki race track at night with lights on and on the last lap he ran off into a sand trap and jumped back off the wall onto the track just behind me.
Looked so realistic I thought i was going to die!
The detail on this game is phenomenal

Update: 240HP + 50HP shot, 7'42.001 :D
OK just done a 7'11.8 sec in a NA Supra with NOS and with a bit of a suspension setup ;-) (oh yeah it also had a bit of a brake setup, and a bit of an engine tune - well you did say we could modify it a bit!)
There are a few more seconds to come off that time by the way, some corners I braked too much. :)
:D Time to add suspension, brakes and tune that engine I think! :D
Just stick to the goddam stock supra challenge, i cant keep up :D
Are these times using automatic or manual ? And with or without girly driving aids :)

Ok.. I managed a 7:53:7 with a stock Supra RZ, no TCS and default sports/medium tyres... now where are those times!!!? :)

No.... in the game you can take corners without risk. In real life you have to think about living long enough to make the next corner. :)
The game can't replicate real life for £40. It has some realistic features but on the whole it is still a game.

That's *so* true for a punter going round :) but I bet Mike of the Schumacher isn't shitting it during every corner he goes round at 4G ;) he'd drive a car to it's utter limit around the 'ring, as would many other drivers. And I bet he wouldn't do it in 7m11s in an NA soop with nitrous :)
Seems daft to have so many accurate cars and such an accurate track and then somehow mess up the physics to the point that you, with a joypad (and a bag of Doritos for the straight bits :) ), can hoon round the Ring in a stock Supra a minute faster than the best drivers in real life could with a race prepped Porsche... :(

Here, actually, what's the Supra like compared to a real one, then? Are the ratios/speeds/handling/braking right? Any game I've played with a Supra in has been wildly off.
I hear they have got turbo lag right though :thumbs:

No, the RZ, stock, no traction control, sports/medium tyres. Ignore the NA crap, no one cares for that.

Nah, just a car that can handle well, the new NSX Type R has been round in 7:51, and the Corvette C6 under 8 mins too.
That Blitz Supra got a 700bhp 7:49 didnt it?

ok.... just slapped a soft compound race tyre on and my new time is 6"50'.412... got camera phone proof if required LOL
That's still with an NA Supra with all the mods possible... including rear down force wing and NOS.
Just thought of another reason why you can drive the game a lot faster that in real life...... just think how short a time it takes you in the game to go from full turning lock to full lock in the other direction. To do that hand speed in real life is impossible.

Have you tried the GT4 sterring wheel? 900 degrees lock-to-lock. Could prove your theory.

I've heard of this before, how crazy have we become when we play driving games because we can't afford to race cars in real life, then we get the driving game to play itself while we go to work?
Weird stuff...what level does your B-spec driver have to be to start winning races?
After that list of times I'm still not convinced the physics are right :) Beating the absolute bestest time ever by 20s in an NA on soft rubber lol
So now we've ascertained that the cars are indestructible, superpowered, and can go round on rails, can people at work stop harping on about how frickin' realistic it is? /rant

Na, with NOS and exremely lightweight with all race car spec mods.. bah, like whats been said before, driving in the game = no risk whereas driving in real life around the ring = life/death.
You guys ought to try it with the ASM and TCS turned off, and with the display set to simple so you don't get the red suggested gear thing and the map. Try getting good times like that! :)
I only play with TCS etc turned off.
TCS and all that anti-understeer / anti-oversteer aid is for whimps !! LOL
Still have to have the suggested gear left on for the last quarter of the track.... I know the first three quarters like the back of my hand now but its all those 3rd gear tight exit bends that still catch me out from time to time.
I'll have it all licked by the time we go over to do the track in real life in June !!

Well the track in the game was 'Lidar-mapped'... they drove round it with GPS hooked upto terrain mapping equipment. So I guess it should be pretty accurate when it comes to the track layout.
What I guess the game won't replicate is all the bumps and surface grip changes.
But anyway... time will tell if you can learn a track from a game and drive it in real life thinking you know every corner.
My first laps in real life will always be 'sighting' laps... as with any new track layout. Usually two of these followed by gradually building up speed and experimenting with different lines.

That is 370HP (all mods) + 30HP shot of N20. Most other mods, full weight reduction etc. Definately a few seconds more left in the setup, perhaps even in the 6'30s with some suspension tuning.

Hmm.. don't know where I can easily find two seconds over my last time but will give it a go!
(I know those two banked corners can be a bit iffy.... if you slide over the top and onto the flat then you're into the barrier.. but if you hook it right into the inside you can keep your speed up. But still not sure whether the best way is to try and apex it like a proper corner or hook it into the banked area from the start?)
Also still going to do the stock TT challenge and will come back with times.
