Good afternoon all,

I need help from a mechanically minded member ideally in South West England.

My Supra has been off the road for a few years now, haven't had money to keep running but now in much better situation so would like to get back on the road.

I need to get the car sprayed as well, as the paint job started to go crappy a long time ago but didnt have the funds to sort out. I do now have some funds (not unlimited) so can do something about it.

When the car was rested up it was running, however have now tried to get moving again and car won't start at all. I posted up a few weeks ago asking questions about getting started as my Brother was going to be doing the work.

Long and the short of it, I now need to find someone to do the work on the car, as Brother has changed jobs and now doesn't have time and just want to get it sorted.

Can someone in the South West (I live in Gloucester to give current location of the vehicle) please come back to me if you can undertake the task?

If you're based there mate I would be speaking to Lee at Supra Racing Developments, or James at Performance @ Hart, either location get it trailered there. They're both highly reputable Supra Specialists.

Lee Perryman @ on 07962171364

James @ Performance@Hart on 07751150442

Good luck buddy.

Greg

I didnt realise that Paul was so close, the last time i saw him he was still in the South East from memory.

Yeah I have a hard time trusting people, but James came recommended on here so thought I was in good hands. Looks like I was VERY wrong on this.

Have just taken a look to the top of the thread and the car left me in November 2018 and was returned in July 2020........

Does anyone have an address for James, my car was picked up from my house and the body delivered back, so I do not know where his operations are whatsoever?

He was recommended to me too and he wrecked my car mate. Had it’s for years too. Still fixing his f*** ups now. Massive lesson learned.

Like @Bender has said I too have trust issues since my experience, I hope you get your engine and the rest of the car back!

To be safe, I would make sure to get everything checked that he’s touched, extra money I know but mine was a danger to life and not fit for the road after he had it. Don’t want to see anyone in a accident.
Keep the thread updated mate.

Sent you a pm mate.

Thx dewd,

The body came back last July without an engine and that was 1.6 years after it was taken away in November 2018. I was disappointed at first, but James said that he didnt have a workshop and when he did, he would get the car back to refit the engine.

Obviously last year was a proper hole, so I gave hom the benefit of the doubt.

Earlier this year, I found a local garage to refit the engine and contacted him in April to start the process of getting the engine back.
When I contacted him he told me that the engine was in his friends lockup and he didnt have the key. Later on I was told that his friend had girlfriend issues and was incommunicado, which was around 20th April. I left it till 30April to contact him again and since then I have had complete silence.

Fingers crossed for you bud, I can see you’ve been a member since 2003, so you’ve got a long standing in the club.
Hopefully the club will help, they couldn’t help me with my issues with James.

Although your story is different than mine, you’ve been and are being treated exactly the way I was.

Got my fingers crossed for you mate, keep in touch via pm and whatnot

Thx dewd, very much appreciated.

Due to work and lots of other stuff going on in my life including a divorce, I have not been active on here at all for years.
I do however want to come back on and be part of things and wanted to have my car back on the road, as me turning up in my Golf really woudnt cut the mustard!🤣
Don't get me wrong its a nice car, but its not a Supra even though it's driven like one!

Note to self, must get new tyres and brakes soon! LOL

This is a sad situation, there have been similar over the years but at least in times gone by a few grand for an engine and you're back in the game etc, these days it's not so easy.

Oxy's engine could easily be spread to the four corners by now for all we know (some other member might have even paid for it), unfortunately even with contact details being given etc I just can't see you getting a even mildly satisfactory outcome.

Do you know what you need to sort it, Engine or Engine + ECU + loom, etc etc?

Gutted for you.

JB and the forum only offered members “protection” via the dispute section if the purchase or work carried out was done by an authorised forum trader usually organised via the forum iirc. Anything the forum threatened to do couldn’t be enforced IMO.

Unfortunately, looking at all involved and the issues it would seem these problems will have to be battled out via the courts.
