dpdt vs dpst

Are there some inhere that can tell me what the different is between those 2 switches both are 6 pole and on off.. as i have a hard time to understand the different.. i now the one of them is a single throw and the other dobble throw.. but as the both are on off switches i have a hard time to find out what the one does the the other dont..

They are both on/off. If you don’t understand what is clearly written in the links give an auto electrician a call I am sure they will explain it to you.

 

In the link they have shown a on-off-on switch... the one i have now is only a on off???

The diagrams show it pretty clearly.

 

One operates both sides of the switch so it turns on 2x circuits (off and on x2)

 

The other one turns on 2 circuits separately with 4 devices or 2 devices (On x2 off and on x4)

 

 

i have attach a picture of my switch so if i have understand it correctly if i switch the switch on i have x2 circuits - turn the switch off - and turn it on again i would then have x4?? is that correct.

now i understand nothing, it is bought as a dpdt, but need a dpst. and on this link you have another switch identical to the one i have

Ok well from the diagram of that switch:

It would appear that the OFF position does actually power something.

 

I would expect it's uses to perhaps be a LED marking the switch as OFF for example.
