SVA and Import Tax

Tell us what year and model your thinking of importing and I'll try to help (PM me if you like)

Basically you pay 17.5% VAT and 10% duty on a motor vehicle imported into the UK, this is based on the declared value. The do spot checks to check if the declared value matches up with the book price.

Hi Gaz

Thanks for the info

The car is a 98 VVTi with quite a few mods, including HKS TO4R single.

cheers

Nic

As Jurgen says, thats gonna be impossible currently, unless you don't want it road registered.

Maybe in a year's time when they've got the model report.

So is the problem with the face-lift VVTi or the modifications? is it just pre-facelift models then that can be imported? Does it matter what modifications have been done?

Is there anywhere on the web that explains it all?

You can have a look on the DVLA (http://www.dvla.gov.uk) Model Reports (http://www.modelreports.com) and SVA site (http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_roads/documents/page/dft_roads_506874.hcsp)

Theres no VVTi model report currently (for the engine and gearboxes).

The car itself is no problem.

With an ESVA you'll have to take quite a few mods off too...
