£30k UK auto?

With such low mileage, will be interesting to know how well looked after it is mechanically. Calipers and wheels could do with a refurb too.

 

I’d love to think Autos are pushing over £20k but probably about £10k over priced?

I think the money is about right considering the miles. If it were a manual, i dount anyone would be outraged if he asked £35k+, and a similar miles and condition fresh import j spec auto is going to be more than £20k on the road here now.

 

It is probably the lowest miles uk spec. But it will likely take a long time to find the right buyer, as it cannot really be used much, and not modified at all. Needs that unsightly sub power cable removing.

Is that the red wire under the bonnet? I wondered what that was for. I guess you are right. I was comparing in my head to

my own car that has more owners and more miles (though under 100k) and original etc but I’d have thought it would be worth late teens even with full history. Not that I am looking to sell but maybe it’s worth more. As you say, finding the right buyer could take time, probably likely to go abroad sadly.

I think this has been for sale a while if its the same car that was advertised as 22,000 miles that was 30k too around May/June time this year reg no L929 EDW?

 

Hi Mark, didn’t realise it has been on sale before. That reg plate brings up a 5 owner car so probably a different one.Maybe one to add to your fleet? Come

Just wondering why it can't be used much or modified? I personally wouldn't want to modify it but it's a car so should be driven... Anyone who buys it to sit in a garage just to look at it is a fool.

 

That sort of person would probably already own a Supra or two, and might want a completely factory one for their own pleasure, and the occasional show. Somewhat unfair to call people like that fools. :rolleyes:

Says only 1 owner but the car is first registered in 1993 and the ad says the current owner has had it since 1998.

 

So there must have been 2 owners then.

 

I suspect it will mean 1 previous owner, as the v5 wont show an additional previous owner until the trader has sold the car. Bad practice, but you see it happen.

I must agree with J_JZA80 where will you find another uk spec with under 40k miles. I would hate to think what this would be worth in a years time considering the way R34 GTR's are rocketing in value. I would have thought this can only follow in pursuit. I recall from the forum members on the GTROC commenting 32-35k was strong money for an R34 GTR around early 2016, but around mid to late 2016 the cheapest R34 GTR on the market was 50k.

pretty sure this was on autotrader for a few days a few weeks ago at £20k

 

I've been surprised by the price rises in general, but it only takes one porsche owner or some such to switch ie to lots of people £30k isn't 'that' much especially if they think it won't go down?

As I have mentioned before and it seems to upset the few when the UK spec Supra was sold in the UK it was turbo only and it's market was 911 sales at close to 40k back in the 90's this was a lot of money, but that was the clients Toyota were after.

Then the market gets flooded with cheap imports and lesser models which then allows chavs to purchase supra's and then proceed to install stupid bodykits, and cheap mods, this hurt the market something which the r34 did not suffer as it was only available in that model which kept the price high keeping chavs away.

Now 2017 less cars on the road and the right people owning them plus the fame given from the net and films means only one thing the price is going up as it should I know some people on here don't agree with the increase in price but that might be down to their financial status sorry but thats just the way the cookie crumbles.

Let's also look at it in another way we now see ford escorts and cosworths as high as 100k and there is no way in my eyes that this car demands a price higher than a well sorted Supra.

I own a cosworth and as much as I like it the ride is terrible compaired to my supra.

Would love to see thw cossie in person and a passenger ride. I was 17 looking at cossies and they were 15-20k for the lux big spec escort cossie bow the proces are staggering.

 

Love the look. Tempted to rs2000 escort and body kit it to the cosworth.

 

The orice of the supra will increase as more go 9ff the road due to low maintenace, parts dicontinued and being wrecked. But they will plato abd only the bid soec and stock low milage unicorn cars will fetch silly money. The usa market may have little effect on the cars when the grey market opens up. But you can still import to certains states before this i believe but could be wrong.

 

To the op 30k currently seems high for an auto. But it will probably sale for 20k+

Supra prices have been rising steadily which is nice for some of us and hard on others who want one. Personally the price is a longtime coming which means people wgo are enthusiasts for the marque are the owners.

 

I think The Sup will become harder to maintain with OE parts as Toyotacut their cloth although there are still plenty of parts out there at the mo.

 

Personally I see the car as a 20K car but others will have ideas.

 

I suspect she will still need a suspension rebuild, intercooler change, valve stem seals etc unless they have all been done already then it may be a 30K car

I don't see why? all those items wear with usage/mileage don't they? it could be a little rusty underneath after all this time, brakes might need a refurb etc but I don't see why it needs certain new bits just through time alone.

My cosworth is a 3 door Sierra I bought it 20 years ago I can't even remember what I paid but it's spends most of it's life in the garage same as my supra.

I am now 48 so in my younger years you didn't really have much choice in cars you either drove some piece of crap british Leyland or a ford we use to be able to pick up mk1 and mk2 escorts very cheap back then and look at the price now, I have owned a few rs2000, mexicio and harrier escorts.

I remember just a couple of years ago putting a post on the Corrado forum asking for a value for my VR6. I thought around £7k- £8k, which some people thought was ridiculous at the time. One sold for £25k earlier this year (albeit a museum standard one) and several have sold for in excess of £10k.

 

No one knows how the market will develop, but it is foolish to underestimate the potential of low owner, low miles cars in a desirable colour and spec.

Some good points especially from fullthrottle and how the Supra was originally placed in the UK market. Jap imports and non turbos have definitely affected values IMO from 2000 onwards, not saying there is anything wrong with them - but seems Toyota almost did themselves a dis-service by not just sticking to effectively one platform like the R34 or NSX whose values remain high as there aren’t less potent models compared to anything that came to the UK. I guess motorsport heritage also plays a factor too.

 

Even in America, the cars making big money are original Twin Turbos.

 

Cosworth prices seems very strong. Perhaps if and when Toyota finally launch the FT1 or whatever they call it then there will be another surge in interest for the MKIV.

The R34 GTR has various turbo and non turbo models below it (including a 4 door), which are far more numerous than Supras.

 

The NSX is a special case. While the Supra and most of its Japanese halo car contemporaries were GT's (except the RX7, which is a sports car), the NSX was a junior Supercar, with an exotic spec list to back it up. The market has rightly priced it towards its own contemporaries, namely the Ferrari 348 and 355, and the the Posrche 964 / 993 911.

Those chavs are still there, still installing BOVs and turbo timers, still ruining cars.

 

Interesting point to note, on Facebook recently Jurgen off of JM Imports shared a post from 2012 or 2013 for a car he was selling, TT auto needing some work and it was £3500 or best offer. Now look at the market, increased by at least 100% for a similar car.
