Fuel needle adjustment?

When I fitted my mom's dials I took the fuel sender out of the tank an adjusted the fuel level accordingly. First I put the sender to full and adjusted to full then put the sender to empty and adjusted again. After a couple of adjustments it reads fairly well. If yours I not moving you may have damaged the coil on the meter.

You can check the meter by conducting a test in the service manual.

I've had this recently, pull needle off gauge, brim the tank, turn ignition to position 2, wait a couple of minutes then put needle back carefully (only push it just over half way on) on tank full line. My fuel light now comes on when the needle hits the bottom bar, which i reckon is about right.
