Parts Supply Chain is failing fast

I have orders running with 3 suppliers at the moment, one Toyota UK (Inchcape Oxford), one with Amayama (japan) and one with Toyota online parts in the USA. All have parts on back order with delays reported from likely to be 3 weeks to 3 months. This is the second order I have placed with Amayama where they are threatening to short ship with naturally, the key part that spurred the order and one they charge for but then cannot source. Amayama has turned into a bit of a lottery as padded orders to spread shipping costs are increasingly likely to yield just the padding like bolts to attach the part that is no longer available.

Similar story for me with Amayama when ordering a facelift dash panel a few months back, they came back after nearly 2 weeks saying it was discontinued and updated the part number to say the same.

Fast forward a few weeks and the same part number was made available on the site again, tried to buy..... same answer. Probably just reactivated to encourage a multi item sale.

I've been told that Toyota will continue to run batches of products where evidence of demand exists. If orders are placed but unfulfilled due to no stock, after a certain demand they do consider batch production.

Apparently when I ordered my SMIC scoop, that was part of a new production batch, which was why I had to wait 3 months.

Not sure how accurate this is but this is what I was told by Steve at Toyota.
