Tyre Pressures and Traction

Right i've currently got some really crap 'Trampiro' :sly: 275/35/18 tyres on the back of my tt supra running 36psi - their grip is appalling and the car fishtails from a standing start when i floor it :read: . Im saving up to get a set of 275 F1s on the rear in the near future, but in the mean time can i achieve a tiny bit more traction by running lower pressures on the rear?? When i first got the car, the pressures seemed to be set to 27psi - would this have been done to achieve more grip?? Is it safe to run pressures a lot lower than toyotas recommended pressure of 36psi??

So will i get more traction with say 30psi all round?

You'll get more traction but the tyres will get hotter as the sidewall will flex too much. This can lead to overheating and subsequent blowouts at prolonged speeds.Motorways for instance.

It's only safe to lower the pressures for drag racing really.
