hadyn
Right i've currently got some really crap 'Trampiro' 275/35/18 tyres on the back of my tt supra running 36psi - their grip is appalling and the car fishtails from a standing start when i floor it . Im saving up to get a set of 275 F1s on the rear in the near future, but in the mean time can i achieve a tiny bit more traction by running lower pressures on the rear?? When i first got the car, the pressures seemed to be set to 27psi - would this have been done to achieve more grip?? Is it safe to run pressures a lot lower than toyotas recommended pressure of 36psi?? So will i get more traction with say 30psi all round? Jake
You'll get more traction but the tyres will get hotter as the sidewall will flex too much. This can lead to overheating and subsequent blowouts at prolonged speeds.Motorways for instance. It's only safe to lower the pressures for drag racing really. hadyn
whats the minimum i could lower the rear pressure to then?
Jake
No way to know for sure mate. Some big heavy cheap tyres are ok with running at lower pressure, others fall apart with surprisingly little provocation. Personally, I wouldn't risk messing about with them. hadyn
these trampiros seem like big heavy cheap tyres to me!!! they ran about 300 miles at 26psi at 100 mph plus, so I might try say 32psi???
Jake
I would think 32psi would be OK. 26psi sounds much too low though.
