1000hp at the wheels... on a stock bottom end

Another chap in the US has just gone over the 1000whp figure on a stock bottom end 2JZ-GTE. Looking at the comments this is at least the 4th Supra to achieve this, along with at least one 2JZ-GTE SC300 (Soarer).

Very impressive, but one wonders how long it will last :)

(Notice it's still using the stock radiator too!! :D )

Alot has to do with use and the rest of the setup though, I know that with the Audi 5 cylinder turbo lumps, people will bend the conrods on the stock ABY bottom ends using an RS2 turbo (torque monster) to reach over 400hp, but people have achieved over 500hp using more modern turbos on them.

But yeah, if this thing is going on the drag strip regularly I don't see it lasting long.

Also got to remember it's American figures. So it's probably making about 1000 at the fly in reality

A very impressive feat none the less. The comments below the video have the owner say it was a "hero pull". So was probably dialed way back for regular use :)

US figures are not different than ours. Plenty of Supras in Europe match spec and output (RWHP and 1/4mile). Just get a good setup and tune®.

For some reason you UK guys are always doubting their numbers.

Erm they are. Often Americans class FWHP as RWP, correct that, the majority of time they do.

Not true, theres always been a difference in figures between the US and the UK. 2 similarly specced cars on different sides of the pond, US figured will always be more.

Thought the max on a stock bottom end was 750/800 UKHP?

Which would be circa 1000fwusahp when you factor in transmission loss.

I'm sure they use the term 'whp' instead of 'fwhp', but then the real number is at the wheels, as that's where it's measured

Remember also they sometimes do runs on racefuel and when you watch races on the 'texas streets' they're always on racefuel, will make a massive difference to the power output.

They do lie about power figures but we setup our cars completely differently, we like a corner or two, they set theirs up for highway and drag racing.

/QUOTE]

whp / rwhp = power at rear wheels

FWHP = power at the flywheel (engine)
