Boot glass seal

Anyone know how the seal round the boot glass is fitted?

Mine seem to leak water into the boot, at the same time i have alot of build up on the inside of the glass which is a nightmare if i need to open the boot as it all runs off and all over the back seats

Is it a diy job or specialist?

I also believe the main inner boot seal is leaking also, i get alot of water build up in the gaps between the seal and rear quarter panel where the boot struts are, and i think its seeping past the seal as i have a small pool that collects in the back corner by the interior light

Would like to replace both together

Are you sure it's the boot glass seal that's gone?

I've been having the exactly same issue with condensation and a small puddle by the back interior light and it turns out to be coming through a weld in the back where the water drains from the left hand channel and drops down between the bumper and the rear of the car. It might be worth checking there and then sealing it. It was driving me crazy and in the end, I spent the weekend removing most of the plastic trim and looking for where it was coming from!

When I had my rear glass taken out professionally they waived their usual breakage guarantee as they said they could no longer get the rear screens for Supras. Worth bearing in mind before doing anything glass out.

I currently have the glass out of a boot lid this was removed by one of my customers as a favour! All he said was he would have to be careful. I have previously removed bonded in glass from cars without breaking it, its simply time and patience. I am going to be removing my rear quarter glass for a full re-spray soon too!

Are you sure the boot lid has not rotted through under the seal?

Outer glass seal i know for definate is leaking, the corner has come away and has been like it some time but has now got worse

I know its a delicvate job but it will need doing so will hope for the best

The inner seal however could be ok so i will check whats been posted above and go from there, thanks for the suggestions

Isn't the inner seal just a sealant strip? In which case if you have a leak then that will have failed.

It is yes

I believe that to be my other leak, it seems the water that collects in the channels is getting past that seal

But i will check the other things mentioned as the inner seal strips arent cheap so id rather not replace it for the sake of it
