DAB radio question

Anyone fitted a DAB head unit and aerial recently? Looking to see if it's the same quality and range of stations available in say a new car with DAB? Halfords were useless. Cheers.

DABs useless, mates have it in their new cars and it cuts out alot, especially through town. I have DAB reciever in the glovebox and disconnected it, not really worth it unless you get a probe of NASA to put on the roof.

As evinX says, it's a challenge for OEMs to get DAB reliable as realistically it needs a AM/FM style antenna outside the car to work well.

Streaming internet radio over 3/4G would be far more reliable if you want more choice.

I live in Lincolnshire which is basically the arse end of nowhere, Ive had the same stand alone Pure Highway in all my cars for may years and it works faultlessly. I only really listen to 3 stations but they work fine for me.

I've been thinking of putting a DAB head unit in the Supra a the one that came with my daily, 2015 Fiesta, is really good and nwver had any issues with reception.

I have Kenwood DAB in mine with a stick to the window reciever. So far it works very well when the car is sat still in the garage at home. All other times it cuts out whenever it feels like it

A good selection of mixed reports, may have to just take a chance with it.

my renault trafic van has it standard and it works brilliantly.

I fitted a Sony dab head unit into my supra with a screen mount aerial from Halfords and it's a bit hit and miss. I don't get as many stations as I do in the van.

I blame the aerial, I've read good reviews on the magnet mount external aerials just mounted in the boot working well so I'm tempted to give one of those a go
