Howdy all

Just got a new Supra Twin Turbo 94 (L)

Could you please tell me what i need to get checked out to make sure its a sound car, i want to get it fully serviced including belts etc, plus if i get the belts done is it worth foing the gasket thingy at the same time?

I need to know what the best parts are to get i.e belts etc and where from

I also want to get the underside treated or painted to protect it, any info on this would be appreciated

I know pretty much nowt about cars :-) so would be getting someone else to do the work, i would supply the parts

The car has done just under 80K btw

Ta

Probably, your guess is as good as mine :D

Lots of the traders on here provide workshop services. They'll also sell you the parts.

FYI Gates belts are rated as as good as OEM, but half the price.

Cam belt should be changed at 60k miles (100k Km)

Is yours an import? Or a UK with no service history?

In both cases I would do all the following:

Normal service (Oil, Sparks, filter and general maintenance)

Cambelt, tensioner and probably the water pump

Coolant change

Brake fluid change

Gear box oil change

Differential oil change

That way everything is in tip top condition and you have a 'peace of mind'.

many thanks supro

i was told that you might as well do the head gasket as well if you do the cambelt, do you agree with that

Also, where would you suggest i got the parts from? I want to get the best parts

Ta!

Head Gasket?

Maybe if you had a mk3 supra, but not a mk4.

If you go to a good servcing company they'll probably be using toyota parts.

Yup, agree with Tom.

Check out the quotes from Decent garages Vs Toyota. For example, With a full Toyota service, you are suppose to get specific nuts and bolts tighten. A non Supra specialist won't be doing that. If they are similarly priced, go with Toyota

Paul. Under normal circumstances you should not need to change the head gasket, as stated elsewhere in this thread, only the MK3 Supra's suffered with head gasket issues, besides a head gasket change would be big money.

Try and get recommendations for garages, I'm sure people on the board from your area can help with that. If you don't mind travelling, Chris Wilson comes highly recommended, but he is based in Shropshire. Where ever you go it would be wise to get a full service and a cam belt change.
