View Full Version : Revs dropping engine dies serious help needed

A friend has recently spent a small fortune on his car in repairs, any help would be much appreciated with this problem.

After 20 mins of driving something weird happens to the car, whilst the car stationary (e.g. at traffic lights) the revs die down and the engine cuts off. This can be prevented if the accelerator is revved. Once the engine dies it will not start for another 10 minutes but then it drives again until the cycle repeats.

He has recently had the head gasket repaired, the ECU has also been replaced, he’s at his wits end, no faults are apparent after a diagnostic check.

Any suggestions would be great

Cheers

Is it a 5 turbo?

That was gonna be my first question - you suspect the infamous 'fuel pipe goes over where the turbo is, turbo heats up and evaporates the fuel' problem...? I believe the fix was to fit an air scoop into the bonnet at this location, correct?
