hadyn
Im probably going to dyno my tt on a rolling road (not a dynapack) 2moro, and have done a search on how to correctly dyno an auto. Am i right in thinking the procedure is turn the OD off, put in MANU mode and leave it in D and then floor it once on the rollers?

Christian
I thought it was more "slowly and steadily increase the revs" than floor it...
hadyn
but od off in D in manu mode is the key principle non?
lovatt
why not just take it to thor with the dynopack mate ? its only down the road, i couldnt find a RR round here that would put my car on anyway apart from them, if they dont know how to do it i wouldnt let them experiment with mine
hadyn
ill be taking to pro-tune in stafford if i can get my arse into gear in the morning, they're doing dynos for £30 and its part of an SXOC dyno day, so i'd thought i'd pop along and put the supra against my former cars

Am i right in thinking the procedure is turn the OD off, put in MANU mode and leave it in D and then floor it once on the rollers? Going on the hassles I had with trying to get the auto on the RR, I would phone ahead and make sure that the place have done one before and are happy to do it. Soul destroying driving on the rollers then being told "sorry can't do autos"
hadyn
my mate has phoned ahead and apparantly they 'can do autos'
Todd
Nice one........shame you're about 300 miles away or I'd be there in a shot :-(
hadyn
got 287bhp @ 5723 and 271 lbft@ 5043 rpm @ the fly... not dissapointed with that, but they did have trouble dyno'ing an auto, and a lot of 200SX owners were getting readouts of about 40bhp less than they expected, so the rollers may have been a bit 'harsh'
hadyn
oh and they hit the speed limiter too at 110mph, so i personally think theres a few more ponies than 287 under the bonnet

Have you still got both cats in? What was the actual 'at the wheels' reading rather the guessed-at 'at the flywheel' estimate?
hadyn
yep both cats in and only mods are k&n panel and hks dragger cat back, it took 3 hefty blokes at the back to hold my supra down and the bloody rollers went black with the amount of tyre tread it burnt off not too worried as i said i'd be happy with 280, but i was expecting more like 320 at the wheels was 257 bhp
Jake
No wonder everyone was disappointed then, seems like they're only allowing 10% drivetrain losses! Don't most places allow 20% for manuals and 25% for autos? I make it: 342 bhp at the flywheel minus 25% auto drivetrain loss = 257bhp at wheels.
