View Full Version : Help with seats & carpets
Hi guys and gals,
Bit of a semi technical thread really .......
OK my plan to spruce up my baby is starting to firm up, although it's looking like I'm gonna have to do some bits later rather than sooner ....... :(
The next thing I need to get a grip on though is what I want to do with the seats and carpets .......
Has anyone either replaced the carpets throughout or recovered the front seats with leather already ...... how much will I be looking at for each job, are there any pitfalls worth pointing out and any pointers as to where I can get these jobs done ??????
Cheers all ...... I'll sit back and wait for your expertise to flood in

they did my seats and I'm delighted with the results.
I think a few guys and girls have also had the G&B treatment on this forum :)

What do you actually want to do with the carpet? Are you planning a straight swap, taking it out and cleaning it, or a colour change?
Swap - suggest a post in the 'for sale/wanted' forum. CJ may be able to source one (new ones from Toyota are £££++).
Taking it out and cleaning it - you need to take the seats out but it's not a particularly difficult job.
Colour change - ahhhh, now... bit limited on colour choices, but you can try spraying it. Yep, sounds barking, but quite a few have done it. A search should throw up the required threads.
Ive had a couple dyed now , results are not too bad !!!

I'm halfway through dying one now. The first attempt dyed it an orangey brown colour and i wanted red so I have to give it another blat with stronger dyes.

Hmmm. I heard spraying rather than dying was the thing to do. I'm going for quite a light colour so I don't think dying is going to work too well in my case.

well i will have a spare carpet as and when i get around to finishing off dying the spare one I have. Its on my list of things to do List which at the moment is very very long. :(
Dude just had my carpet dyed as it was in a bit of a state before. Looks great... Nice black carpet now instead of the dirty grey I had before..
Would recomend it, makes it look a lot newer!
