The non VVTi 1UZ-FE is the best engine if you wish to boost/supercharge it in the future.

The VVTi 1UZ-FE is the easier/cheaper option if you wish to stay NA. More parts available, engines are far easier come by and easier to fit. It’s still 290bhp 300ft/lb!

3UZ-FE is the best engine if you wish to stay NA but less common, more expensive and harder to fit.

The choice is yours :D

LS engine?
Yes Indeed. :) No need for gearbox adaptor kits, Tremec T56 or TR6060 straight bolt on. Seriously huge amount of tuning parts and an ls3 with a medium cam and a set valve springs will make over 500bhp and about the same torque from about 2.5k (and hold it till about 6k) whats not to like (apart from the fuel bill :) ).
