Hi guys,

I have just got my twin turbo Supra back on the road again after several years and it felt great, man and machine as one. However, I realise one of the reasons I stopped using it was the level of road noise particularly after a long journey and the state of the roads today. I have 16 inch wheels 225/50 (front)and 245/50 (rear) so I'm limited to the choice of tyres available so my question is should I change to larger size wheels and if so what size should I get 17 or 18 inch and which tyres are the quietest around. Someone said be careful if you go to larger size wheels as the car was not designed for larger wheels and will not handle as well. If I change wheel size should I then go for 4 or 6 pot brakes. I do not intend racing.

Getting a set of stock 17" wheels will really open up your tyre choices and should help finding a lower noise one. Also you could try noise suppressing foam under the carpets and near the wheel arches to try and lower this.

I'll find a thread as I'm sure someone went to a lot of effort to try and reduce it.
