Hello everyone, have just joined the forum. I have a totally standard mint condition UK manual supra with 70k on the clock. Has anyone got any idea what it might be worth?I need to advise my insurance company as I now have it on a classic policy.

Thanks for any advice.

Rich

Not looking to sell? Just that someone has been after a red one for ages!

Anyway, yours are starting to become the holy grail, £15k at the absolute lowest at the moment I'd say, you will find it very very difficult to replace it if the worst did happen.

Just out of interest have you had it a long time?

Hi and welcome to the club. A little bit more info is required, what service history has it got ? What things have been replaced on the car ? What condition is the car like inside and out including the underside ?

Hello, it's got full Toyota history, cam belt was replaced 4k ago. I've not used it much for about 5 years so not been service for 4 years but only done about 10 miles in that time. Getting it serviced again in the next couple of weeks once I get the wheels back from being refurbished. It has always been kept in a garage since I have owned it which is about 10 years. Its nice and clean inside it's cream leather and cream carpets, it's still got the original supra branded mats. Underside looks OK no corrosion. Thanks for your reply.

Hello thanks for the reply sorry but not looking to sell it I've had it about 10 years, I'm trying to do an agreed valuation with the insurance company, just to know where to start.

The insurer will view the no service history in the last 4 years as a negative, not saying it's going to know thousands off but it will be a factor. Other than that it sounds like a nice example, any suspension parts or other non service items such as inter cooler etc been replaced ?

No offence intended but one persons idea of mint condition can be very different to anothers as many on here will attest to :)

If you get some detailed photos of the car (exterior, engine bay, underneath) up we can make a better judgement on price. A list of parts replaced along with your yearly service/maintenance schedule would also be a good indicator.

Hello the front shocks are the only non service parts that have been replaced, however like I said it's not really been used for the past few years so will have to see what the next service and mot throws up. Will switching to a garage other than Toyota for servicing affect the value? I only ask as every time it goes into the Toyota garage they always say we never see these in the workshop which does make me wonder if it's the best place to have work done.

My Supra had an agreed value policy and the service history was never asked about or

even mentioned, same thing on my classic Range Rover's agreed value policy

Ask if your Toyota dealership has any mechanics/technicians that were trained specifically to work on the mkiv, the Toyota dealer I bought my

first UK mkiv from had one guy who was and he was top notch and I had no concerns taking my car there as long as he did the work on it.

Saying that if its only oil and filters it hardly requires a specialist, my local village garage used to do all the work on my second UK car, anything from cam belts to suspension change etc etc

As I say it didn't affect my cars value, when and where it was serviced was never included in its agreed valuation

Your cars rarity will push its agreed value up quite considerably in my opinion and make no difference if its not had a service in 4 years

due to it being in storage.

The question is how could you replace the car, its now very rare so i'd be aiming at £20k +

Sky and Lancaster both asked me about service history and wanted to see paperwork so I guess it must be an insurer specific thing. Need to get the agreed value sorted on mine.
