View Full Version : Need some Advice on SUBS
Hi all.
I have a 12" Sub in the car at the moment, really cool audio setup however I have no boot space whatsoever and living in london I dont want someone to smash the rear window for the sub.
I would like to be able to use the boot cover which I cant do at the moment so either a smaller sub is required (without drammatically decreased the bass quality) or some other ingenius idea.
Some pics with Audio installations would be appreciated where you still can use the boot cover.
regards
imi
Yup, my cars got rear seats and believe or not, I actually know people who fit in there...:)
You do? They must be ickle tiny people!! :p Well if you don't use them take them out and put a whacking great sub in there instead!! That's what I'll be doing over the next few months depending on how much free time I get!!!
do u need your spare wheel?

I started working on a plan to stick two 6" subs in the empty space behind the rear seats. This is the location of the stock sub if you have one. Normally it's just covered in carpet.
You can't fit an 8" in... I tried..., but a couple of 6" sub will go ok. Not many 6inch subs around, but these JLs are supposed to be good:-

My plan was to make a box that would sit flush with the floor and not lose any boot space. I've got some speakers and made the top panel, but haven't finished the box yet....other supra projects have taken over at present.
Might be able to post some photos at the weekend.
I've seen it posted on some of the US forums and it is supposed to sound really good.
Now fitting two 6" subs in the stock slot flush with the carpet sounds ideal....
Can you post some pics of the finished article...
surely there must be more of you how have done this...
thx for the help people
2 12" subs, 2 amps, boot cover still in place, but no spare wheel.
thats cool Barry, but what about the boot space :)

Only the sub box sits higher than the original floor level. I never put anything in the boot any way. Although I did manage to fit in x4 pillows, a douvet, couple of blankets and a sleeping bag. Was a tight fit tho. :eyebrows:

That was full too. One side was my daughter, the other side was 48 cans of Stella, 3 disposable BBQ's and some food! :thanks:

I'll try and get some pics up soon. Although it's not exactly finished, it I'll give you the idea.

Here are the pics from the thread. Basically this is exactly what I was planning to do. I was going to use 2x 6" subs, to keep it at floor level though.
