Need advice!!!

I need some advice from you guys.

So the thing is im going to view a supra on monday and i would like to hear your guys opinion on this car??? I put a link down below.

I viewed the car on Friday and it was as described in the advert but the thing that worried me was the engines left lower side starting all the way from the transmission was covered in fresh and old oil. Could that be the head gasket?

Take off the oil cap - best way to check is finding mayonnaise in there. Could be a weeping front crank seal. Only way to know is stick it on a ramp and inspect. It's worth the effort if you're shelling out nearly 8K (which seems 'cheap' compared to the current trend of increasing Supra values)

It's not a 2002 car though - definitely not. Pre1996/7 for sure. Imported in 2002 doesn't make it a 2002 year car - probably 93/94

Could be something as simple as a leak from the rocker cover on the leftside and over time the oil has run down. I have a slight leak from one of mine and when its parked up in the garage for a while its hardly noticeable from the top but it collects underneath.

I checked the oil cap it was fine. I arrange a mechanic on monday to lift the car for me. What else should I check before buying the car?

Hey looks good, and does seem cheap. Its also on ebay, stick the reg in here https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ make sure they explain that the MOT test stations just messed up with putting miles in for 8 years in the log rather than kilometers (they have with mine over the years)

Its an 1994 - showing as 31st Dec as I recall.

Check for rust underneath, especially the front cross member where the rad sits.

I'd be asking the seller where the oils coming from, might be a simple fix, might not, the advert says its a private

sale but if he's only owned it a week it screams car trader to me, ask why he's selling after a week and is his name

actually on the V5, if not its trade sale surely.

Thinking about it if its only been a week and he'd bought it privately then the V5 would still be at the DVLA

Does it have any history showing work done parts replaced etc ? If its a 94 car as shown on the mot check

Yes that's the one looked like it had a stripe down the bonnet everything else the same.

It's easy to forget at this time of year but check the heater works well.

As someone else said the oil sounds like a cam cover leak, if you can see no oil on the front of middle of the engine and its confined to the rearmost part and top of the transmission then that's classic cam cover seals, needs sorting but very minor in the grand scheme of things.
