tt swap

I currently have an NA 5 speed, how much should I roughly expect to pay for just a GTE, a GTE with 6 speed and labour for the swap? (if you could break down the estimates to with and without labour that'd be great)

GTE Engine: 2-3k

V160 Gearbox: 3-4k [second hand]

Labor: 2k?

You will also need to worry about propshaft & diff. I'd probably budget around 10k to get it done unless you can do the work yourself

That's a lot more than expected! Problem is mine is aero and GZ models are hard to find (and expensive). I wanted to go NA-T but been told TT swap is better in cost and reliability but these figures seem to be more than an NA-T kit!

TT6's are £15k plus cars now, so the engines, gearboxes etc are all suitably expensive.

Building a 6 speed turbo aerotop has never been cheap though.

Yeah, I also don't like how the intake comes over the block, gte plenum is much better and I think to convert it is costly as well so I think I'll start with just a gte swap then when funds allow, move to 6 speed. With bpu what can i expect to achieve bhp wise or am I limited by my box?

BPU can give you in the region of 400hp, maybe less maybe more depending on boost setting.

Depending on your clutch setup and how you drive, your box could last 6 months+ or 5 minutes.

building a 6speed aero isnt cheap. but you wont lose the money you spend converting it. well not much of a loss

BPU is around 400bhp

the auto TT box can take it with a oil cooler quite easily and is savage with kick down.

converting to a 6 speed is only going to get more expensive using the Toyota supra 6speed.

people are currently looking at alternatives such as the T54 5 speed, SRD and whifblitz have some seriously cool auto conversions

personal favorite is the SRD one

so its better to do tt swap compared to na-t kit? I'd want a manual, any 6 speed conversions which don't rely on v160/v161?

Im running Na-TT 5spd with full whifbitz BPU upgrade approx 400bhp. As long as your not constantly bouncing it of limiter and drifting it every were you should be ok. Then wen or if ya box gives up then source 6spd .

TT is reliable from factory, main issues with it are the turbo seals going or valve stem seals need replacing. Especially with the age of most of these engines these days.

NA-T can be reliable too, but make sure you have a good tuner as you will need a piggyback/standalone
