Opinions on Borg Warner s400sx3 turbos

Sent my turbo off for recon ( ITS gt74dbb X trim ) lookin just under £900 to rebuild and a month or more to source the parts from America.

Been recommended this turbo as a replacement, was told it's a very robust unit with similar characteristics, realise it's not water cooled or ball bearing but for the price it's got me considering one.

Ideally I would go the precision turbo route but funds won't stretch that far at the moment as I want my cobra on the road for summer. And to be able to use my supra also, then at a later date swap again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

A 74mm turbo for 900 hp. It's a bit big imo ... and will be laggy.

However, regarding the price, the BW are hard to beat.

I would invest a bit more and go for a smaller turbo ; the precision 6466 is rated 900 hp too ... and is only 64mm.

69mm mid frame 1000hp turbo. GTR's doing 1800hp with two of them. And they cheap.

Thanks Jamie I'll see if this is available as much as I'd love a precision, I want the car back on the road as I'm losing the love for it and want to enjoy for the summer, been advised Borg Warner are very robust turbos
