ls400 fronts and uk rears???

There's a thread on here that DanDan made that lists the specs of the various brake calipers.

It's beyond my knowledge, but I believe that because the LS400 calipers utilise the same size and numer of pistons as the UKs, and therefore (all other things being equal) create the same clamping force, brake bias *should* be the same. But don't quote me on that.

That isn't to say the LS400 front brakes are comparable to UKs BTW, they are inferior.

That.

I think the LS ones are just equivalent to na ones.

I have been running with ls400 callipers on front and jspecs on the back for years. Last year I fitted a new master cylinder and a stopper and my brakes stop the car on a dime. Even the MOT tester commented on the stopping force of the car at the last MOT.

The calipers are physically smaller, limiting pad size. I also doubt they can dissipate heat like the UK's. The advantage of the LS400 calipers is they're lighter, although this is cancelled out by the discs. The discs for the uks are larger diameter, and importantly the UK's have directional venting and are a lot lighter. As the brake discs are rotating mass, the two setups have a roughly equivalent weight penalty.

Of course, the LS400 setup is a great upgrade for not a lot of money, and for those who care, are probably a bit better looking :)
