Damp door cards and window seals.

I took my door cards off the other day and it looks as if rain has been getting in though the seal. When the doors are open the windows leans in towards the car and leaves a gap of about 3mm between the seal. I've never noticed this before, but then I've never had the need to look either.

The moisture barriers are still on, albeit not completely attached all the way round, but I can't see how any water gets out though the bottom of the door.

Maybe it isn't the rain that's getting in (there isn't really any gap between the seals and the windows when the doors are closed) and this time of year there's just a build up of moisture in the car. I did see someone else posted about excessive moisture on the rear windscreen and to put some absorbent packs in the car so maybe I'll try that.

The door cards don't seem damaged. They're still quite ridged along the bottoms but I just wondered if anyone else has noticed this before?

I've also seen that people have just removed the moisture barriers all together. Obviously they're there for a reason, but are they that effective?

I had the same problem years ago, new window seals solved the problem.

Hey Nic. Door window seals or the ones actually on the fixed in windows?

They help stop the door cards getting damp and mouldy. A previous supra I had didn't have them and suffered from this.

Hi Pete, it was the window seal along the top of the door I replaced that made the difference and stopped the water getting into the door behind the door card.I think I also replaced the door seals at the same time which stopped the wind noise/draft I was getting.

Well I checked and I can't see how it's getting in. The seals at the top of the window are sound and when the door is closed everything is tight. I'll just choke it up to the insanely damp weather and check it again soon.

You could try using a silicone spray on the seals and bending them over whilst the window is down, this should soften the seals and may help them to seal better. If you are getting water inside the door though you run the risk of rust developing, I know on mine the only way I could get them to seal was with new seals.
