I made an enquiry earlier in the week to these guys following a couple of recommendations.

http://www.brakecaliperspecialists.uk

The good news is up until 4.30pm today they are offering a massive 30% off !!!!

So my original quote was as follows:

4 Piston Caliper Rebuild:2x 4 Piston Caliper

SERVICE: 2x Four piston caliper rebuild/refurbishment/remanufacture.

WARRANTY: We'll give you comprehensive function warranty that lasts for 2 years.

WHAT WE DO: Complete dissasemble to individual working parts, ultrasonic clean all

components, shotblast the brake caliper body and caliper carrier and repaint caliper

body and carrier in a Gunmetal Grey corrosion inhibiting paint, not the electroplate

finish that last for a few weeks before it starts to corrode.

All working parts are re-greased with the correct high-temperature grease.

Caliper Service Parts:1 Front parts required for rebuild.

Front Parts Required. All rubber parts replaced (excl pistons unless required or

requested) . Highest quality rubber available, beware of cheaper alternatives. This

helps us provide such a good warranty with confidence.

2 Piston Caliper Rebuild:2x 2 Piston Caliper

I enquired about having some UK's rebuilt previously and got an email offering 30% off too :) I would have taken up the offer but I bought new instead

It cost me £500 just for the stainless pistons when I rebuilt my set of UKs.

so this is pretty cheap, I do like tinkering though.

No because they cant supply a seal

I was going to buy CW SS pistons and seals etc, they were willing to just charge for the reassemble and paint so pretty good

My concern is if you don't split them and shot blast them where the seals sit is a shoulder where the

shot blasting grit can get stuck.

I know this because I did it on one set then took them apart and was shocked to see how much grit

was stuck in there.

Hopefully the piston bores, brake line holes and bleed nipple holes are all blanked off before they do

and blasting

Can I ask why ? the main bore is a clearance fit to the piston, the critical part is the groove where the piston seal fits

The Old seals had let some crud past and after speaking to Chris decided it was for the best.

When I say a hone some may describe it as a light scuff.

I did use CW pistons I quoted the price including stainless pins etc my bad.

I'm pretty thorough honest... ;)

I got CW SS pistons

CW calliper half seals

CW piston seals

CW Stainless pins

New Toyota pad assembly's anti squeal shims etc

Braided lines

New discs and pads

And powder coated the callipers while they were apart.

and ofcourse new decals

The problem with rebuilding brakes one thing just leads to the next you may aswell just do it all then at the end look at them and think I could have bought a bigger set haha.
