IceMan Posted February 9, 2005 Share Posted February 9, 2005 My rear left tyre is down to the tyre markers that I guess indicate "change it now"! The rear right doesn't need changing as it has a good couple of mm of tread or so yet (left had a puncture before right needed changing so it's older - not ideal situation I agree but I don't wanna fork out for 2 tyres at the mo!). Anyway... I got 265/35 ZR18 Goodyear Eagle F1 (GSD3) on at the mo. The cheapest (with VAT + fitting) locally I've found is about £165. Does anyone know any reputable dealers online where I could get one cheaper?? Also noticed my front left is low psi compared to right - both are fairly new (since about August) with loads of tread left - if it turns out to have a slow puncture can tyres be patched/fixed or would I need to hurt my bank account further?!? geoffvalenti Posted February 9, 2005 Share Posted February 9, 2005 It's not a good idea to mix old and new tyres on a high performance car like the Supra. If you've only got 2mm left, the legal limit is 1.6mm, so you may as well change both and be done with it. If the front tyre turns out to have a puncture, it can normally be fixed, unless the hole is close to the sidewall. Unfortunately, alloy wheels have a nasty habit of leaking from the rim, so that could be your problem. If they're sealed OK, the leaks can be stopped, but IME, if you get a troublesome one, it can be a right PITA to fix Have a look at Micheldever tyres http://www.micheldever.co.uk/ they're sort of down your way.
