Ok I've never once set up an ICE install so I'm looking for as much advice as I can get. I fancy a decent ICE install now the rest of the car is taking shape. Problem is I'm not into big bass music. I (sadly) listen to more ACDC, Sabbath, Neil Young, Thin Lizzy etc. (oh I'm too young to be old!). I loved the looks of this (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=32576) and this (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=32551) but I doubt this will be any good for me?

Can anyone give me any ideas :looney:

My recommendation would be to use a single 8" sub then... doesn't give too much bass, but will have a nice kick for the kind of music you are into...

Obviously the best option is a 4 channel amp for the doors (mids and highs) and a d class for the sub...

However... you could probably get away with a good head unit and a single amp for the 8"

Someone more technical will be along. But the settings on the amp will allow you to turn the Bass right down so you have at least got the look you want. :) and reasonable bass

Glad you like my setup mate ;)
you'll defo need sub(s), but like WSB2 said, you can turn the subs down untill your happy with the sound.

Anyway,.. I thought you rockers always played your music with bass to the MAX!!

Cheers lads! I love the look of the subs in the motors I posted (I like to go for style). lol yeah I like a bit bass (drums, bass guitar etc.) but not too much that will distort the music

All being well, I'm taking this friday off to do the sub box in my boot. My setup will consist of :

Alpine F407 4channel amp powering Focal 165CA Components up front and Focal coaxials rear
Alpine T707 2 channel amp powering 2 x Audiobahn AW831T 8" Subs.

I used to be into rap\hip-hop and so loved BIG subs, but things have changed, hair has greyed (I'm only 30 mind) and I now listen to rock for the most part (Playing in a band kinda changed my tastes too).

Anyhoo, the Audiobahns are good subs and look the nuts too. Once I'm done, I'll take pics and let you know what it sounds like. My install will be similar to James', although I will be mounting the subs (ooer) upside down so I can see those lovely chrome casings

I will be porting the sub box, but it sounds like you'd be better off sealed.

All the best

Matt

VERY insterested in the outcome. Someone told me Audiobahns were poor quality but I DO love the looks of them

I'll let you know how I get on :)

As for the Audiobahns, my ears are my review panel - and they give them a thumbs up :music:

Mine are only the 8" subs, and the AW831T's are Audiobahn's 'Natural Sound Subwoofers', not big arse SPL jobbies ! They were bought for music, and not just for rattling my car to bit's in McDonalds car park

The specs are still reasonable tho, 200watts RMS, and 90.3dB efficiency isn't bad for their size. I daresay they'd struggle if I had a saloon and they were tucked away in the boot, but the Supra is open to the boot and so I don't feel 2 12"s to be necessary. (DAMN I'm getting old  :D)

I'll let you know.
