Finally finished my Sub install.
Thank you to all who have helped me on the technical side.
Pictures arn't great, but the finished job does look very tidy.

My two major problems to overcome was
1. wanted the space saver wheel still in the boot
2. didn't want to damage or cut any original car carpet or trim.
The install can be taken out in a few minutes in THREE parts:
1. Amp and wires.
2. Sub boxs
3. Covering panel (with multi changer)
Here's the specs:
PIONEER FH-M75 (CXA4747 part No.) Jap Import headunit
INFINITY Reference Series 5760a amp (6 chl)
INFINITY Reference Series 1030w Subwoofer LEFT
INFINITY Reference Series 1030w Subwoofer RIGHT
INFINITY Reference Series 625i 6 1/4" REAR
INFINITY Reference Series 452i 4" FRONT (fits toyota door box)
SUB-BOX: Fibreglass and bodyfiller Pods with MDF sealed boxs
PANEL: MDF with self locating guides covered in leather and vinyl.
......and the sound is fantastic ;)
(SEE ATTACHMENTS)

Thats amazing mate. Good to see it finished. Did it take you many man hours?
actually, it took may WAY to long to finish because of three major problems.
1. Faulty amp (had to send it away to be fixed = 6 weeks)
2. Fibreglass was tricky (my respect to bodyshops)
3. Bodyfiller is a major pain in the ass :( (spent hours just sanding it flat)
but the rest was ok. The MDF was really easy to work with and the leather/vinyl wasn't to hard to shape.
Getting behind the stereo in the dash wasn't as easy as I thought, and the GLO dials have induced a horrible buzz that I need to re-move.
apart from that, not bad mate :looney: :looney:

Thanks guys and girl ;)
I've always used Infinity equipment. Price is good and sound is fab, but most of all Infinity stuff seems to take punishment very well.
Having said that the amp was faulty, but I'll chalk that one up to a factory problem! :conf:

lol after their american factory closed and the idiots moved it to mexico ... infinity were great years ago .. i remember having their 6x9's, they were awesome ...
not sure on their new stuff though we managed to cook one and had to go for the Vibe mono box .. 3 times the price but hmm smooooth =D
very nice job mate .. did you do the fibre yourself (bloody art in itself)
Mad Hatter
07-02-05, 03:03
to round you system off perfectly . loose the door box and put 6.5"'s in ... the whole door then becomes a box in effect .. sounds much better =D (first thing i did as the standard were ripped when i got the car lol)
That looks fantastic Ed  Jump on a plane to HK and come and do mine please

yes I did, and its bloody hard. ;)
Wish I had spent more time on the shape because I needed enormous amounts of filler to loose the imperfections and then spent hours sanding the shape smooth. My garden looked like Narnia from the 'lion, witch and the wardrobe' with all the white dust floating around.

lol i bet, god knows what mine will be like ... i want to fibre the whole thing ... but given i'm not doing that part myself (love to hate the stuff) i'm tempted to go for a wood build as nearly 2 grand JUST to fibre ... don't think so.

or should i save myself alot of hassle an jus tmake custom mounts for the roof in the back seat ...??? !!!??? hmmm bloody cars lol
have to say I'm very impressed still Ed.

I can see doing this on a aero-top would be a major hassle :(
Think I would just ditch the roof at home on that 1 day a year when we actually see the sun, and for the rest of the year enjoy extra bass from the install ;)

Thank you Rosie ;)

NICE JOB!!
iam about to do something nearly the same as soon as i get my motor back from the body shop, but i am doing it so my targa top fits over x2 12" subs i think fitting the sub rings will be a big pain in the balls
SupraStar 3000
12-02-05, 23:54
If you look at all the available space behind the rear seats and under the back window I think based on my kind of setup you could still fit a roof in the back. Admittedly it wouldn't be as easy to fit the roof on and off as before but with a little planning I'm sure somethings possible.
I've also added a power capacitor since the last post and ordered a Infinity bass level control from the U.S so I don't need to lift the panel to adjust the levels.
Pluss, thanks to Lovatt I should have a new carpet tomorrow ;)

Just added a Power cap and Bass level control unit at the other end :)
Havn't tried it yet, so fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Awesome mate. Looks like I made the right decision to go with Infinity... Luck not skillful judgement!!
Got 4" reference (crossover something or others) for front doors, 10" sub and 6x9's for boot install powered by very nice looking V12 amp that I got rediculously cheap off......yes you guessed it E-bay.
Got my official certificate off them yesterday telling me my star is now turquiose!!!! Any medics out there.....LOL!
Must get together in a week or so when mine is done...... BOOOM!

ok,.. so my original thread title wasn't very accurate considering I've just spent another weekend and monday night on this project, but I think i've made my final amendments.
Directed Audio 1.0 'Display' Power Capacitor
Pioneer DEH-P80MP High Power CD/DAB player with RDS tuner
Pioneer CDX-P1270 12 disc multi-changer
No more engine buzz from the high level inputs thanks to RCA's
No more cd skip thanks to multi-changer
Loads more power and sound range thanks to DEH-P80MP :read:
the only week link in the system is the back window and my ears
VERY HAPPY :)

That install is mad. I had to sort my sounds out quick so went the easier route and got 4 17cm infinity kappa 3way speakers inside with an infinity basslink T in the boot, it fits perfectly. The standard double din stereo didn't compliment the speakers and held them back so just installed an alipine headunit.
All I wanna do now is dynamat my car, has anyone done this and has it made a huge difference?

Hi ArghJae,

Give yourself enough time and you don't need any patience ;)
I am looking into getting the same amp for all my 4 speakers and 2 sup. Suprastar. do you think it will fit under the passenger seat
:)
just a thought I guess a silly one. Or may be I can do a custom install and get the amp to be fitten into the back seats, still be able to seat on tho.

dimensions for the 5760a are (L x W x H)
305x470x68mm (12"x18-1/2"x2-11/16")
With a little jiggin about I'm sure it'll fit under the seat, but I'd go for behind the rears as you'll have loads of wires to tidy up.
Try and buy a 100rc BLC (Base Level control) to control the Amp from the cockpit. You won't need to keep the amp accessible then.
I found mine on e-bay in the US.
I found a online shop selling for 150 ish with special offer, sounds right?
I am hoping it will fit under the seat as mine is in the boot at the mo and the way I installed the 2x10" I have no space left for it :(
I got a 4 ch amp briged into 2 and I looking for an excuse to get the 6ch for all my speakers :P
I got my 4 ch amp second hand for 40 quid....I am cheap skat :)

China, if you let me know the amp model I can check with my supplier to see if I'm able to get any cheaper for you IYW. Is that £150 including delivery?

Really enjoyed laying that stuff.
Absolutely joy to work with and it really has improve the sounds.
BTW: The dynomat foil "IS" conductive.
