OK so after the troubles I had with my last Supe I was ready to try something else and the only thing that interested me was 911's. But the more I thought about it, I just couldn't justify spending 3 times the cash for something that isn't really any faster or better looking. So when I saw this - 1997-Black-VVTi-TT-Tiptronic-BPU-46K I knew I had to check it out. I've not had a Tip before so its something new to try out.

I've just driven it 150 miles home and I have to say I loved every minute of it. The car felt so tight and didn't miss a beat, I imagine its just like how they felt out of the factory, respect to previous owners for looking after her so well!

There are a couple of bits that will need sorting, but nothing major -

  • Aerial just whirrrs and doesn't go up or down
  • New rear number plate
  • re-locate boost controller so i can see digital display (found when using manual mode i wanted to see what gear i was in)
  • Engine needs a good clean
  • Wheels refurbed
  • Couple of pipes need changing as a little worn / perished
  • Install new head unit / amp etc
  • Fix squeaky passenger seat - Sounds like a family of mice are holding out in there
  • Check for lose electrical connections behind dash as clock doesn't work and aircon was random
  • Exhaust is way to quiet, can barely hear it

All fun jobs that i can't wait to tackle :)

Here's some pics of her at her new home by the sea -

Lovely car

I would highly recommend upgrading the stock tiptronic system to paddleshifters, there's a how to in my build thread (see link in my sig). It transforms the driving experience.

Already seen your thread mate (read it all a couple of days ago :) )and cant wait to have a go at doing exactly what you've done. I'll drop you a PM for more info in a week or 2 if thats OK? Cheers

Nice one Rob, what happened to the other supra? Did you sell it? Or is it a project?

Sold it, its currently being broken unfortunately. I sold the wheels to a guy in Arizona 2 days before i decided to get another Supra, pretty gutted I never kept them....
