Dash lights not working????

Hey got in the car the other night and none of my dash lights came on. Drove home on the dark. All speedo ones are off, heater controls ect and glove box oh and the auto lever lights. My headlights are ok and the main red triangle (hand brake) light is ok with the small auto gear light (1,2,d, n, r) are on when in gear. A changed the (panel) 10 amp fuse in the fuse box in drivers foot well but blew straight away. Not been fiddling about with anything before the issue. Anyone any ideas what could be causing this? Could it be the actually indicator stalk which is faulty and blowing the fuse?

Yeah. They are old ones tbh a don't know if that will make a difference

The only reason I ask is because I had a similar issue where my dash lights went out a few months ago and the fuse was blown. I never really got to the bottom of why it happened, but it took two new fuses before it stabilized and I no longer had the issue.
