Exhaust emissions

Hi all

Hopefully the first of many posts on here!!!!! I'm looking at buying a 93 NA supra. The exhaust system on the car is custom straight through (no cat). Question I have is how will this affect the emission test on an MOT? Will I need to find a cat? Can a cat be fitted to the current exhaust? I've heard somewhere that a 93 L plate doesn't need a emissions test. Is this right? Can anyone point me in the right direction to find this out?

Hope you guys can help!?!?!

Mine just passed with flying colours and no cats. Double decat 93 N/A.

It does get an emissions test, but your garage wont be able to match it to any engine on their machine, so it will be done on the default no cats fitted test. if the garage know how to do their job you'll be fine, more chance on failing on exhaust volume with a decat N/A!

Did they not visually inspect the exhaust?

the new rules from Feb '15 mean decats = instant fail... (mine did, search forum for the discussion we had at the time. Some more experienced MOT peeps on here have first hand knowledge of the new rules)

well done for getting yours through ok.
