Ok, so I have approached a crossroads in my car life and have to decide what to do, but in order to do that, I need to know what I'd be looking at for my car, note that it has a possible bottom end failure(bearings gone) due to have been run too rich at initial mapping.

Lovely car Marc  Really difficult to price due to the engine and paint issues. I'd say about £10k as is, but more like £17k with those issues sorted.

Sadly I reckon breaking it would be better for you financially.

I know, it would be very hard to break myself as I have put hundreds of my own hours into it, also got my spread sheet here of parts and work and everything spent on it and it owes me £42k, thats with me doing most of the work myself aswell :(

Needs some current pics up Marc but as Jay says, breaking would be the best option.

Will grab the latest pics I have.

I could be interested in the car too :) :)

The car is not going yet, not until I have got to the bottom of the issue and made sure that it is bearing failure.

TBH, I wish I'd never started on it and just bought the bloody Corvette!!

Contact Lee and have it trailered down to SRD for a once over and diagnosis. If it's the bearing you can buy another stock bottom end and swap it other while it's there and drive it back home once it's mapped.

However if your dead set on replacing the car then make a list and price up the parts to and see if the total is something you can live with.

I believe it started out as an NA auto and Marc used another black TT6 to covert the car.

Dont sell just because of this hiccup mate - the cars a belter and very rare.

You'd kick yourself selling this for sub £20k for something that could be an easy-ish fix even if you have to get it down this way to SRD.

Yours is one of the cars that WILL definitely rise in value over the years mate, be great next to that R32 as investments :)

Beautiful looking car there bud.

I wouldnt give up, although an NA, mine has fought me with constant running issues that i struggled to get to the bottom of plus a busted flywheel. Thought about getting rid of it and the stress that it was giving me, ended up being a simple fix and all is forgotten about.

Really enjoying the car now and wouldnt change it for the world....

Before my Supra i spent around 4-5k on a MK1 MX5, problem with spending and modifying a car is that you will never make all of the money back, even if you break it, although you will get more, its never the full amount!

How can anyone get a base-map so wrong that it fills the sump with fuel? Especially when it was done in person on a dyno?!

Ryan sent me a base-map, I loaded it onto the syvecs and it ran. He then logged in remotely to get the idle etc right.. I then drove around where I lived for a few days, then drove 3 hours down to Lee to have it mapped... No massive overfuelling, no problems. Off boost it drove perfect.

Thinking about it there must be more to it as marc has an afr gauge and would see if it was mega rich, plus if it was so rich there would have been signs ,black smoke , missfire, bad running .

how it could be so bad and be missed is very odd indeed .

I'm with you guys, but I know it was perfect before mapping as I serviced it regularly and I changed the oil before it went off and I never even started it due to the 850cc Sards in it, just disconnected the fuel pump and cranked it over a few times.

Did a compression test tonight on it(bear in mind this is on a bone cold engine) and came out as so

1 - 151

2 - 160

3- 155

4 - 162

5 - 160

6 - 156

So considering it was cold, that still looks fine to me.
