Just thought I would show you some pics of my car PC and ICE install. The PC is the head unit sized thing above my Blitz controllers.

All I need to do now is plug my USB devices into the 4 port hub located in the back left of boot.

USB devices to be plugged in:

1 x Multi camera 2.4ghz receiver / control unit
1 x External sound card to feed the amps
1 x Wireless 802.11 transmitter - to connect to home LAN
1 x Sat Nav receiver

Did you make that shelf yourself? Excellent stuff all round

Yup, certainly did. I wanted to use the sub box I had made by a friend as its made from Tresper and would cost £600 just for the material's alone. So bearing this in mind, I had to do an install where it would fit.

I didn't want to remove Spare wheel etc so just sat it there and built a shelf the sat on top of it with a frame under neath so it couldn't move and covered the install up if people looked in the rear window. as the shelf is higher than stock I had to put a black strip 6" deep at the bottom of the rear window to block the rest of :D

Bonus is that it let me mount my 6x9's in it too :D

To make it a tight fit to the boot lid I simply screwed some hose pipe 1" in from the back edge before carpeting, so when the boot lid shuts it holds it down very tightly, plus I dont get any of the standard boot lid rattles :D

Errr, let me think..... NO! - bloody hated doing it and glad its done now :D

Nah but seriously only takes a couple of hours to do a shelf, it not hard, you just gotta start big and chop it down until it fits :D

Looks like an impressive install there dude! I like the attention to detail. The other thing I notice is your car mats, where did you get them from they look new. Sorry for the hijack :who:

Very nice Hornet!
Does everything run off the main battery or you have a separate
source for powering DVD and EVERYTHING else?

I was thinking about moddin' the stereo but was put back because of lack of space in the rear boot/shelf (see attached). I need somewhere for the shopping and spare wheel! :conf:

Now I've seen the potential of and ICE install keeping spare wheel intact, I might re-think. Shopping would be limited to 3 x carrier bags on rear seats though! :upside:

Yeah its all running off the one "Optima Yellow top" battery but my amps are D class so don't draw as much current as cheaper A class amps would :D

I still get a little light dimming if I really crank it up but not very much, you would really have to look carefully to notice it.

My CAP is only a 1 Farad though and 3 years old now so might replace with a couple of 1.5 Rockford Fosgate ones later this year.

On the battery side, I really can't be bothered to install a second one as it would be a locational fitting problem big time, and I dont really need one. I would rather just upgrade the alternator in the future.

I take it that picture is not of your install then ? It looks very nice but you loose the back seats and covering it up from people looking in and eye'in it up to steal would put me off. I just wanted Quik simple and easy. I've lost the boot fair enough, but it looks standard from outside the car and I am not interested in going to ICE shows so I don't need to have Neon lighted amp racks etc etc :D

Although, I could quite easily install a cover board above my amps etc with displays and lights in it :D

Could even use USB neon lights and control them from the PC :D

Hmmm.... Nah can't be bothered, might do later in year when weather is bit warmer.
