Where did all the Supras go?

Just trawled eBay and the other usual sites and there looks to be around 30 Supra's IV listed. There used to be only a few years ago over 100 just on eBay. Where did they all go? Prices seem to have taken a recent large spike upwards, probably reflecting the limited availability.

I wonder how many have ended up broken for parts.

There is very little turnover these days and has been the way for a good 12 months or so if not longer. Prices have firmed up and precious few long term owners seem to be letting theirs go. It'll be interesting to see if the prices hold, or eventually go the way the mkiii's have, depends how many of 'us' hang in there and spend money on keeping them in good order I spose?

I've just renewed my insurance and raised the level from £9k to an agreed £12k. I had the value for insurance at £4.5k ten years ago. Still a long way to go to match USA prices though I think it may well get back to the £20k I paid for it within the coming 5 years.

I haven't noticed it driving the prices of cars up hugely, but the prices of used parts seems to have shot up recently.

It's not huge, but sub £10k tt6's are becoming very rare, and £4k something auto tt's (especially) silver were steadily available are now not.

It's always the way with modified cars. When I was into my Renault 5 GT Turbo's around 15 years ago everyone was breaking them and a large percentage fell into the wrong hands and were written off... nowadays specialists rebuild them from rusty shells.

That can't be right surely I'm not one of only 5 1998 owners in the UK

Can't be right, my '99 is taxed and on the road, I can't be the only one! I'm fairly sure theres a few more '99 cars.

I've decided to keep the colour (199 Silver) on mine and remove the cheap and nasty body kit and return it to stock, but for a front lip, and no spoiler. Just the GS300 Sport alloys and a 4" tail pipe. I was going to break it but decided to keep it as there are very few cars I would prefer to own. It also a Toyota so it's built properly and has a decent chassis. Be interesting to see what it would be worth with the 6.0 LS2 Turbo conversion ,TR6060 and M5 Diff conversion.

I can't see those numbers being correct. I reckoned from the numbers that used to be on sale there were about 2500 at their peak made up of roughly 500 UK-spec and 2000 J-spec which would break down somewhere around a 1000 turbo cars and 1500 na. That's all guesstimated but I don't think it'd be a million cars off. So its surprising how far the numbers have fallen but really - that far? Then again I haven't seen any round here for a long time; other then my own of course. See that almost daily.
