Evening all,

Similar to TBourners thread the other day about wiring of an install etc. I'm fairly sure that I can figure it out, but I thought I'd check with you guys here who actually know what you are doing! :D

I now have all my stuff. It's too late to change anything now, I'm sure some of it is probably rubbish, but Ebay is a tempting place for cheap stuff! Sytem is as follows : -

- Kenwood KVT 920DVD Headunit (already installed)
- Focals Front and Back (already installed - 60w RMS ea.)
- Audiobahn A6004T - (75 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms, 150 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms, 300 watts RMS x 2 bridged output) - I want to use this to power the Focals?
- 2 x 10" Rockford Fosgate 'PUNCH' Stage 2 Subs (200w RMS/400w MAX)
- Maystar QXZ475 (4x75w RMS, 4x150w MAX, 2x230w RMS bridged, 2x460w MAX bridged) - I want to use this for the subs?

I really am not sure how to wire all of this stuff up? How do you wire two AMPS up with power? Can you just split one wire from the battery to feed the two AMPS, or do you need 2 seperate wires? Also, how do the Focals wire up? Do I need to feed all 8 wires for the Focals from the back of the headunit to the AMP, and then back to the speakers ... or is there another way to do it (see ... I really am a numpty with this sort of thing!) :D :looney:

If it helps, I have attached a dodgy photo of the wiring diagram for the headunit HERE (http://www.bouncingbullet.com/kvt920dvd.jpg) (290k) . Unfortunately, I can't find the English manual, so this one is French, LOL ... it should be fairly legible I hope!

Sorry for the long post .. wanted to try and get all the detail in. Hopefully I can draw up a wiring diagram once I know roughly what I am supposed to be doing! :D

Cheers, J :conf:

Run one large power feed to the rear, using an inline fuse, then use a simple gold splitter block

The speakers will be run using the RCA leads to the amps, so you can disconnect the speaker cables from the rear of the headunit, then run the speaker cables from the amp to the speakers.

Awesome ... that helps, cheers! :friday:

How about the other AMP though? If the RCA leads go from the headunit to the 'Focal speakers AMP', then what plugs into the AMP for the subs? Should there be 2 sets of RCA cables on the headunit, or can you split them to go into both AMPS?

I also just realised that I'm going to have to move my aerial switch somehow, as you pointed out on the other thread! D'oh :conf:

If your Audiobahn amp has some RCA through puts on it feed the sub amp from these, if not you would need to fit an RCA splitter yes.

I take it you only have the head unit and not the rest of the processors as in your posted diagram.. therefore your head unit doesn't have sub RCA outputs..

The RCA preouts should have enough voltage to split them in this way.

For the power you only need one cable, just make sure its a heavy enough guage, I wouldn't use anything less than 4 guage to run two amps, although 0 guage would be better.

Excellent ... thanks for the help .. it's all becoming a bit clearer now! :respekt:

I do have all of the processor units in the diagram, yes (see attached pic). Are the 'front', 'rear' and 'non-fad' preouts on that what I need to plug the AMPS into? I hope so as that would mean that I wouldn't have to mess about getting RCA leads from the front to the back of the car ... installing that DSP unit was a nightmare that I'd rather not repeat :p

Cheers, James

p.s. According to THIS (http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13489) , the Audibahn does have RCA through-puts.
