The worst bit of washing the car at this time of year is cold water or should I say cold hands.

Yes, I use a hose to pre-soak the car first then use warm-cool water in the bucket to wash the car so, hands are OK but, when you come to rinsing the chamois during the dry down, I have always used the hose to rinse out the Chamois between drying each panel.

Penny dropped today, that if you fill a bucket with clean warm water to rinse the Chamois then your hands don't get cold

I have always used a bucket of warm - hot water for the chammy, if its hot it seems to work better. Plus I dont like getting my hands wet or dirty as I'm a pen pusher and have delicate hands so wear blue rubber gloves

Throw a couple of buckets of tepid water over the car, you'll be left with less water on the car than just using the hose alone.

Much less water to chamois off!

Warm water is good it helps the wax work better if you use "wash and wax" which I hope you all do!

You mean by adding wax to the water?

Turtlewax wash + wax is excellent, been using it for ages after I got about a gallon of it for free when I bought one of those flexi blade thingies (which btw are also a great time and effort saver )

hi pete, always use warm water for the wash , but used to take ages to dry the car after ,i got one of those blades from autoglym , takes off most of the water, dries the car now in about five mins .

no, serious, I got some black heavy duty gloves from ASDA and it insulate very well.

Next Ollie you'll be telling us that you use a little Fairy Liquid in there with your Turtle Wax

I turn the hose to a slower single spray and then bead the water off so, there is less water to Chamois off

Before I met my Grifriend she used to wash the car then go for a spin to dry it

I read once you're not meant to use your chamois in hot water. No idea why! Maybe it doesn't last as long or something. I've used the warm water trick before.
