High speed wobble

Hi people.....

When I get up to about 120mph+ I get quite a severe vibration through the wheel / dash etc. I've been informed by a tyre place that it wouldn't be the wheel balancing, so in your opinion am I looking at a warped / damaged wheel?

The car had brand-new alloys + tyres on it when I bought it but because of the limiter I couldn't take it above 112mph until recently so didn't notice.

If it is a damaged wheel is it something I can easily test for?

Mine does that too, at exactly 120 almost, I am also feeling a wobble at 30 and 70 as well. I've had a few people tell me that my rear wheel is buckled/wobbling, and now that rear shock is on it's way out. So it could be the same thing.

I'm now looking for cheap alloys and cheap shocks.

Could be a number of things, wheel balance, wheel bearings, worn bushes, shocks, tracking etc. Best to get it on a ramp and get some one to give a good going over. See my thread in the tech section, number of things found on minetoday to sort out.

I had similar problem (vibration at about 90MPH). Got new Good Year Eagle F1 Tyres fitted and was told by the monkeys at Tyre Spot I needed spiggott rings fitted behind my front volkracing alloys to correct the vibration. Since fitting these £5 each, there has been no vibration at all.
