It would probably be quicker to cite what's good about them, brave man buying one of those... Google Jaguar V8 problems!

 

In hindsight, it probably wasn't a good idea to produce lots of critical components in plastic :D But the issues with the engine blocks seems to have pretty much stopped now from what I've read.

 

I would still choose the earlier supercharged straight 6 version though, it is a much tougher engine that has its roots many decades earlier.

This is an 05 plate xjr is this the same for this car ?

I have owned two xjr one was the straight six and the second was the v8 but the 4.2 model I have also owned a s type r which had the 4.2 engine.

all I can say is good things about all of them very well built great reliability and very comfortable, they are very responsive off the line with that supercharged engine. My last jag was the s type r I had the superchager pulleys changed and remapped plus miltex exhaust and it went very well would give a few supras a run for their money.
