Anyone had their car professionally 'wrapped'?

Ok, I've seen a few posts on people doing custom and DIY wraps, but the wrap I'm after is apparently very difficult to do (giving away no clues here lol), and has to be done professionally.

To that end, I was wondering what sort of life expectancy I can expect from a car used as a weekend toy and kept off the road in the winter? And are they prone to stone chips or easy to repair if damaged?

I've read somewhere about 5 years for life of a wrap but was just wondering if this was the norm?

Don't wanna spend in excess of £3k every 5 years otherwise it could be a costly adventure!

(P.S. Needs to be a wrap as I looked into paint and don't think this can be done 'reasonably priced' in paint...)

Cheers dude, I've found someone in London that does the colour I'm after, but I'll check out the ones in Glasgow first as it's a little bit closer to home lol

I've never seen a perfect wrap. Even car companies don't get it right.

The only people I'd let touch my car are PWPro. Their work is the best I've seen.

I had my work van wrapped and it lasted a good few years of being used daily, lots of miles and living outside in the rain...

This photo was taken the day before I peeled it all off to sell the van and it was just as good as the day it was fitted.

There is a company near me called Boss Dog, and I've seen some of their wraps and they're absolutely spot on. They had me wondering if one car they did was plasti-dipped or wrapped because I simply couldn't find a join. They charged £1500 iirc to wrap a Mini Cooper Works with 2 colours.

Funny you should post this... This is the company I've actually been in touch with about the work!

But at £5,500 for a wrap that's only got a one year workmanship guarantee and a 3 year life span it's a lot of outlay for a non permanent colour.

I have seen some very negative press about their Wraps, but then this could be the same with every company !

If I'm honest at that price I'll not be getting it wrapped, I'll go for a respray instead. Just won't be able to have the colour I fancy

Ive seen a few wrapped cars and they look great from a distance, and i can see the appeal. However im yet to see one id be happy with on my own car. Its the joins needed.

That's what I thought.

My dads Alpina is wrapped. Still looks ok 5 years on from a distance but close up you could tell it was tired after a couple of years. Only cost £1500 on a bigger car then the supra though your price seems a bit steep even if is in a mad colour.

Vehicle Wraps - £1-5k to make your car look like it's had a bodged paintjob (Orange peel, flat colour, no gloss/shine to it)

Not true at all! I had my MX-5 wrapped by Boss Dog in Surrey and it was absolutely flawless! Wraps can be just as good as a respray in the right hands. Here's mine in 'Grass Green'

Eh? I can only talk about what I've seen with my own eyes, and that includes the work of several major car manufacturers. Many refuse to take 'wraps' as colour schemes in the UK even when they take it in Europe because the finish is never perfect. Maybe we have differing versions of 'perfect' though.

I'm pretty sure it's the same as anything, you get what you pay for!

Ok, I was after Black Chrome. A little bit radical yes, but I think with the right wheels and stock body with only an RMM lip it would suit the Supe nicely. I'd be after more of a smoked colour than what is on the GTR in the video.

More like the second clip. That was the company who quoted me circa £5500 to have it wrapped.

A respray is my preferred option, but I've been told it is near impossible to get the Black Chrome effect in paint.

Looks like I'll just after to look at other colour options at this rate, something less controversial maybe lol

I don't think I'd let Mark wrap my car, imo do it right and paint it properly.

The mentality of people spending over £50k on a car and then letting someone cover it with film for £2,500 is totally beyond me.

Near imposssible but there is some bvery expensive paints especially in the states that can replicate chromes. Have a talk to some specialist painters.

But imo you'd be better off with a re-spray.

I'm getting quoted £1800 for a FULL RESPRAY in Storm Blue - including inside of doors, sills & glass removed.

Price without the glass removed would come to £1200.

My mates had his Honda NSX done from Wonder Wheels a garage close to where I live & they did a good job..., I'll be sending mine to them come this summer.

Yeah that's the company I got the quote from. Normal wrap he said was between £2-£2.5k and a chrome wrap is circa £5.5k

It will be a respray I go for, was just curious is if I could have had this colour without a wrap but looks like it could be a very costly adventure either way.
