ripped_fear
Can anyone help me with diff ratios? I'm looking to change my open diff on my w58 5 speed, to an LSD. It looks like I may have found a 5 speed OEM LSD but looking to see how it will affect the gearing. I'm on the forum excel sheet and it only gives one option of 4.083 now is this the open or lsd values? or are they both geared the same? Thanks J
mattdavies
As far as I was aware the ratio is to do with the number in the Diff code and the A or B at the end is the LSD or Open
ripped_fear
Ah ok so that would imply the A01A and AO1B both have the 4.083:1 ratio
Nodalmighty
The OEM Torsen is a bit crap to be honest, they only work when both tyres have grip. As soon as one looses grip they go open. I'd save up for a proper plate type LSD.
ripped_fear
The price difference would be night and day, and any improvement is better than nothing. It will be going 6 speed some time so the diff will be changed again then anyway, For now I'm happy to take the deal I have been offered. Thanks for the input though
ripped_fear
Just bumping this thread as I may have sourced another NA LSD. Do the drive shafts need changing to get them to fit, with an open diff car?
David P
The driveshafts are same, N/A open and Torsen diffs are both 4.083:
