Fake for sale add for my car.

I was sent this link this morning and wanted to share to say obviously it's not my ad, the description is wrong (unfortunately I don't have 1000hp lol).

It seems to just be a scam ad and they are using my car as the photo (interesting they say the mini is also for sale that's parked next to mine)

I've reported it to gumtree and phoned the non emergency police just to note the situation, as unlikely as it is there has been instances of steal to order.

Wanted to make this post just so if anyone sees my car used in a similar for sale ad in the future if you could let me know.

I really hate these sort of ads, whats pathetic is how wrong the description is. You'd think that someone would put a little bit more effort researching the car before putting an ad up for £25k lol.

To the uninitiated, the advert sounds almost plausible.

These scammers are definitely getting better :(

how do these scams work exactly , we know they dont have the car , so if you was going to buy it you would want to see it right ?if you cant see it you just wouldnt buy it , this is where I dont get it unless they take you hostage and ask for a rasom how else would they even get a sniff of you cash ?

From what i've heard it usually goes like this -

Sellar says he is out of the country setting up new job or what ever (so he can't take pics or arrange viewing)

Tells the mug that he can have the car transported to him by a company.

Tells said mug that if he pays the deposit then the car will be transported and the mug can pay the rest once it arrives.

Mug pays deposit, car never arrives, seller vanishes into the sunset.

This plan would only work if you are an idiot clearly… but there are idiots out there!
