supra_24
Hey guys, Seeing as my Supra has had no head unit or audio for that matter from the start, I am now looking to getting an install done this year. However I just wanted to know your opinions on the matter? What speaker make should i go for? I have heard JL audio is the way to go these days, although I have always gone alpine. I believe we had some templates on here as well for the door speakers? I'm presuming that the original door speakers are pretty small? Also I am looking at a Sony XBT 601 touch screen head unit, which seems to review well. Want to link it to my windows phone if possible. Amp recommendations as well, as I have been told a 5 way amp with this particular head unit is the way forward. Not looking to install a sub as I have been there and done that twice now and they are always a pain. Not looking too much. Any help on this would be appreciated. MattP
Focal units seem to be the standard base for most people on here including me they offer excellent clarity while giving satisfying bass tones... they should hire me for marketing If you check my thread in my signature you will see what I used Edited January 27, 2015 by MattP (see edit history)
JackyBoi
Alpine 6" component speakers all round would be your best bet, with an appropriate amp installed into the boot along with a sub if you're into that kinda thing. I would highly recommend the Pioneer SPH-DA110 headunit as not only does it perform great it also looks great when installed into the dash. Has plenty of pre-outs, including HDMI ins/outs and USB ins/outs. Good luck
Guest dgrejtest
Hi. 1. If you are not car hifi enthusiast (more or less) any brand in certain price range will sound the same to you. Some will say that's not true, but if you spent a little more on HU and less on speakers you can correct the sound thru HU (EQ, delays, etc). 2. buy templates for 16cm speakers for front. 3. use dynamat, GZ or similar sound insulation. If you never used it, find tutorials online. Insulation is faaar more important than people think... 4. if you won't have sub, than 4CH amp will be enough. If you just want a bit more quality, than I'd recommend you 16+TW for front (120Ł range), coaxial 16 cm for rear (90Ł range), 4 CH amp (4X50 to 4X75W RMS; price range 200Ł), insulation (at least 40Ł)... I don't have any good advice for the HU... What is your price range? For HU or everything... Peter
