Rear tires

Hey guys,

I'm gonna need to replace my rear tires soon, and wanted some advice on tire size, they are currently 255/40/18's on the rear, on a 9 or 9.5 inch rim (I can't remember which).

I'm after a slightly 'over tired' look on the rear a bit like this but not as extreme

Any advice on tire size? I'm not looking for something very expensive, so possibly a fairly common size that will give it a slightly 'lifted' look.

If you want a bigger sidewall just raise the profile if you have the room to do it

Post a photo of yours now to give an idea of how the size your using fits the wheel

and also how it fits in the arch

The optimum size tyre on a 9.5" wide rim is 255 or 265

If you went to 255 45 18 you will raise the diameter of the tyre from your

current size by 26 mm (1")

Lots of tyres available in this size look on http://www.camskill.co.uk

265 40 18 would be 8 mm bigger in diameter

265 45 18 would be 35 mm bigger in diameter

275 40 18 would be 16 mm bigger in diameter

275 45 18 would be 44 mm bigger in diameter

http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator/

Rim width---Min tyre width----Ideal tyre width-------Max tyre width

7.0 inches-----195 mm--------205 or 215 mm-----------225 mm

7.5 inches-----205 mm--------215 or 225 mm-----------235 mm

8.0 inches-----215 mm--------225 or 235 mm-----------245 mm

8.5 inches-----225 mm--------235 or 245 mm-----------255 mm

9,0 inches-----235 mm--------245 or 255 mm-----------265 mm

9.5 inches-----245 mm--------255 or 265 mm-----------275 mm

10.0 inches----255 mm--------265 or 275 mm-----------285 mm

10.5 inches----265 mm--------275 or 285 mm-----------295 mm

11.0 inches----275 mm--------285 or 295 mm-----------305 mm

11.5 inches----285 mm--------295 or 305 mm-----------315 mm

12.0 inches----295 mm--------305 or 315 mm-----------325 mm

12.5 inches----305 mm--------315 or 325 mm-----------335 mm

Hope im not hijacking your thread here, but what are the best tyres to go for these days for the supe for the summer months of driving, i have been reading around for a little while now and i just cant decide!

Was thinking pirelli or contis. What do all the other supe owners tend to go for the keep the back end in control. :flame:

I doubt there's a huge difference between the top flight tyres other than price as far as normal rd use goes

A good geometry set up with unseized play free bushes along with not stupidly hard suspension is as important as good tyres imo

Is their a place down south who know what they are doing that you could recommend for a good geometry setup? I do feel mine does need a proper setup.

Elite in Rainham are pretty good, been going for years. I drove round to Wheels In Motion to get mine set up when I fitted my tein mono sports but an hours drive each way tho. Where abouts in Kent are you?

I'm in maidstone mate. Just want someone who really does know their stuff to set her up perfectly. I don't mind an hours drive as long as they are good.

I could always get SRD to do it when I get decide to get flappy paddles fitted if it comes to it tho.
