Hi ive just purchased a 1994 uk TT in red.

The car still has the standard stock toyota stereo.
How do i replace this with an aftermarket unit?
where do i get the surround for the head unit as the standard unit looks like a standard double din fitting.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.

regards

A standard single din radio is fine, I had one mine, and just get a little din cubby unit...either from halfords or even toyota....

Hi, just remember that the centre console part of the dash needs to come out to access the stereo etc. Sorry if you already knew that but thought I'd mention it as I didn't realise this when I got my Soop!
Good luck!

Hi, just remember that the centre console part of the dash needs to come out to access the stereo etc.

Just to expand on this...

First remove the ashtray (over the prop shaft) and unclip the surround, being careful to disconnect the short wire near the bottom. Then you can see the fixing scews (2 at base of the centre console) so you can remove without snapping it! And hey presto...big hole and easy access to radio fixings and wiring loom.

Hope this helps!

Howdo...
I found these somewhere either in a thread or on the web somewhere...
If they were supplied by someone on here, I hope you don't mind me showing them again!

Hi, I got my MkIV Supra last week and I'm looking to change my standard head unit too. does anyone know if the dial surround has to come out to get the standard unit out?

Cheers.

Yup the centre piece needs to come out..

Start with the gear cover.. unclip that... then you can pull the centre bit out (you might need to loosen the bit along the top of the dash..

*** IF YOUR CAR HAS AIRBAGS, DO NOT TURN THE IGNITION ON WHILST THE TOP PANEL IS DISCONNECTED ***
