Most cars that use exotic carbon fibre parts do so to be as light as possible whilst still retaining some strength. What you're suggesting is to add weight to the component to make it look like a poor imitation of something which is lighter, isn't particularly pretty and is usually painted over? Weird. Carbon skinning is real carbon, resin'd and lacquered just as real carbon is. I can assure you know, it doesn't look like a poor imitation. And 99% of people would not know the difference between carbon made and carbon skinned. Carbon hydrodipped does look different to real carbon. I suppose you could always get something skimmed first if you were bothered about the weight, don't know how much that would affect it.
