Camshafts on stock 2jzgte

They were HKS cams inlet 256, exhaust 264, I was advised back then that this was the best setup with the stock turbos.

 

thanks, did you 256/264 cams with 35R turbo , I am going the same route with a 35rGTX

had this set up on the black ridox i had dude, found it helped with low end power. im going 264's on this build though,

Yes ran the same cams with the GT35R, there's a dyno graph and full spec in my garage

 

thanks Nic, I am currently looking at the Tomei 264 PONCAM's as you can run them with OEM valve springs due to the higher lift or 9.5 versus 9 on the HKS

 

But my tuner just text me to get uprated Valve springs , now its just getting $$$ lol

Chris Wilson did the head machining and rebuild for me using the HKS cams and OEM springs, valves, etc. this setup I ran for around 8 years, first with the stock turbos at 1.2bar and later with the GT35R at 1.4bar, rev limit raised to 7200rpm.

Can't see why you'd need stiffer valve springs for those cams? They are only really for higher rev limits to avoid valve float, or for seriously steep cam profiles.

 

Had a chat there, and we are going OEM springs :)

Did they make a difference on stock turbos at 1.2 bar, worth getting?

With the stock cams you see a drop off in the power curve before the rev limit, with the HKS cams it kept pulling to the redline and the mid range pull was noticeably better. When I fitted the HKS cams I also fitted bigger injectors and EMU, which made roughly an extra 30hp with the car dynoing at 430hp at 1.2bar on the stock j-spec turbos.

Thanks , No EMU at the moment or injectors ; price depending I might hold off
