Hi I'm doing this post for my aunt who has had continuous problems with her Toyota Supra Mark IV as it is an Japanese import no garage seems to know the problem. If any knows anyone who specialises in this car would be greatly appreciated.

The car has gone into sleep mode, if it gets going only goes 20-30mph, red diamond light

is on & the engine management light is on permanently. Dumping fuel with

black smoke & cuts & jerks when it starts.

You can read stored fault codes yourself, if you flip the lid open on the diagnostic port in the engine bay - it's near the oil dipstick, then use a paperclip, or piece of wire to link terminals e1 and te1.

Then turn the ignition on to the second click, and the engine management light should start flashing.

It'll produce a code or codes, via the flashes. For instance:

Flash 5 times, pause, 2 times would be error code 52 which would be knock sensor.

Do this test, and post up your results, this will give us a head start in trying to help ;)
