A couple of questions for you guys please;

1. Does anybody know the impedence of the stock door speakers? I want to just swap them straight out for the 4ohm Alpine SPR-176A woofers I've got, so I need to know if I can.

2. I've forgotten the second question... ah yes! What DynaMat (or equivalent) do I need for the doors when I replace the speakers? How much should I get?

I'll ask stupid installation questions when my car's in pieces another week I expect, but these will do for now if anybody knows the answers. :)

Many thanks!!!

That's exactly what I've been doing this afternoon.

Just measured the impedance of the stock ones - 3.5ohms (near enough 4)

Use Dynamat extreme, to do it properly you'll almost need a bulk pack. It isn't cheap!

I've just done the front right side , I'm doing the front left tomorrow. ;)

If you haven't taken the door cards off before:-

If you have then ignore this.

There are some plastic rivets. I made the stupid mistake of trying to lever them out. :looney:

Push in the centre pin about 5 mm and then pull out the whole thing, it shouldn't be tight.

There's a small screw where the door release lever is, remove the plastic trim. Tucked inside is another larger screw.

There's also a screw where you pull to close the door (lever off plastic cover first).

All the other fixings are fairly obvious.

I got the Dynamat Extreme from Matt Harwood - cheapest I found. ;)

All cool stuff - I'll bother MH sometime (perhaps tomorrow, like 9am - I'm sure he'll love it).

I've not taken the door cards off, so I'll have a go while heeding your remarks. Although I don't understand about the plastic rivet centre pin thing I'm sure it'll all become obvious when I break them off. :) You know it's true.

Just push in the small centre pin about 5mm, then pull the whole plug thing out ;)

I see exactly what you mean now merckx. Really easy job actually - except the door needs to come apart to put the Dynamat in when I have it. Need to contact MH, and I'll post separately for advice on where/how much Dynamatting needs doing.

Really pleased with the one speaker so far :p so I'll have to get the other one sorted now. Should be piss easy.

Thanks for your help!
