Aerotop bolting order

Hi Guys,

I've heard in the owners manual for the MKIV Aerotop there is a "order" to bolting up the aerotop roof.

I don't have an owners manual and i can only find the order for the MK3 supra.

Does anybody happen to know the order for bolting down/off the aerotop roof on the mkiv?

There should be a sticker inside your armrest under the lid with the order.

To be honest I don't think it's ultra important to do.

Mines not the original arm rest so i've not seen this in mine!

To be honest I usually unbolt front then rear, but I've never given much notice to LF or RF order etc...

Im trying to get to the bottom of a leak, so was wondering if this had any gain.

New seals, cleared drains and when i test with a watering can i might as well pour it inside.

its most likley the window mate if the bodyshop had taken it out they may not have put it in right or its going too high as you said

its leaking while the window is down though, if the window was pushing on the roof, it should make a difference while the window is down

My roof leaked a bit by the passenger window until I followed the instructions under the arm rest. Here is a picture of it.

I used to lock mine in the following order, and never really had any leaking issues.

1 - RF

2 - LR

3 - LF

4 - RR

Just make sure you are on a completely flat surface, otherwise there may be some minor alignment issues that could cause it to leak.

Im going to start using this method from now on.

In other news my leak is fixed (the proper sequence didn't help so i looked elsewhere)

Basically, the heavy rain the last few days has given me a wet seat, so i started on looking where it's coming from as my seals are brand new!

Thanks to Keron and Supra_UFO, it turns out my aero-top drains were fitted incorrectly from the body shop, the rear drains where installed in the front, etc so I sorted this out and sealed them for good measure

Still leaking!! Argh, but at least that was sorted.

At this point it was starting to get irate with the problem and beginning to wonder if the car was bent in some fashion, giving me a poor seal, i put over one more watering can of water and i noticed something weird.. After pouring the water over the car it took perhaps 4-5 seconds for the stream of water to get inside, which made me wonder..

I pulled back the seal on the aerotop roof itself, it was all wet on the inside of it.

I took off the roof and removed the side seal and the metal tray what the seal sits in. Boom, the seal from the metal tray to the aerotop panel was shot, hardly anything left, i replaced this with a thin adhesive rubber strip and sealed up the seal with Butyl rubber again and refitted.

This means water was getting past the roof/seal without ever touching the rubber seal, which was why no matter how hard i tried with the seals, it still leaked.

No more leaks, well happy, just thought i'd explain for other people looking in-future.
