Investment - Classic Supra v Classic Fords???

Been pretty bored at work today and spent a fair chunk looking at some really nice Fords....

....Most notably the 3dr Sierra Cosworth and the Series 1 Escort RS Turbo

Got me thinking, the retro car world is really picking up steam now and if you could have a decent car to drive a bit, but also a great somethng for the future do you think the Supra prices will rocket like the R34 GTR or will the Fords continue to be the serious contenders?

If you could have the Supra and all it's fun, or a S1 RS Turbo and a 3dr Sierra Cossie for the future what would you choose?!

As an investment I'd say the Fords tip it mate.

Personally though, I'd get an old school celica (70' I think?) that have the muscle car look. I don't know what the prices are liely to be, but they are available at reasonable prices, and I would expect the prices to rise.

If you want an appreciating asset, look at the Jag XJS. Values for the late convertibles have always been strong, but the later Celebration coupes are really going up. I suspect this is the investment market snapping them up due to E-Type prices going silly. Even the E-Type coupes have doubled in price over the last 5 years.

A good, stock 3 door Sierra Cosworth is a nailed on investment opportunity, and if you can find and afford an RS500, even better! Frankly, I don't see a Supra gathering anywhere near as much traction as the Cosworth.

RS500 or RS200

RS200 being the road going rally cars rare as rocking horse plop and go for around 100k now ! good investment could also be the mk1 focus RS but is some time away to collect real divedends

Mate of mine sold his 911 Turbo (last of the handmade ones) for around £50k a couple of years back and it's now worth around £120k. He's kicking himself hard. I was going to buy an original Countach a few years back but then they suddenly doubled in value. It's the same for all classic exotica such as the F40, 959 etc. No CGT on cars...

Hasn't got to be exotic either, 1970's 2 door Range Rovers are selling for

crazy money, i know of 2 restored 4 door vogue's both pre soft dash neither with

leather, ones £22,000 the others £27,000 and a soft dash LSE at £30,000
